Love this place. Look, it's not a Mission burrito and it never will be, but that's ok. I don't need to eat the best burrito of my life all the time. It's ok to be "just plain good" with reasonable prices in an expensive city.
It's also nice that in a neighborhood filled with trendy places that a small family run place can still operate and provide quality food. These people are the best and their food is well worth eating if you're in the area and craving something simple and cheap. No other place in the Marina can offer you that except Los Hermanos. -

I love the concept of a hole-in-the-wall, family-run place surviving in the Marina. It's easy, it's cheap, and it's very fast. And the burritos aren't bad.
But if the enchilada+chile relleno plate and nachos that I shared with friends is exemplary of their food beyond burritos, then big thumbs down. Both items were frozen and then quickly reheated: that in itself sucks. If I wanted frozen/reheated Mexican, I'd grab a burrito from the grocery freezer. Anyway... neither item was heated through enough, which meant the meal was lukewarm and cheese not at all melty. The textures were unfortunate, the sauces bland. I asked for a chicken enchilada; if it was chicken, you could've fooled me - not really sure what it was. And the cheese topping my refried beans tasted more like freezer than cheese.
As for the nachos, instead of real cheese, they were draped with bland, bad American style nacho cheese; pretty much sad stadium nachos. And the house hot sauce is neither hot, nor flavorful.
I guess if you've just come from a Marina bar and you're super wasted it probably tastes fine. My advice: if you come here at all, make sure you don't come sober. -

I have no idea how long 'the brothers' who own and run Los Hermanos have been running this AWESOME burrito spot on Chestnut in the Marina but I lived around the corner from here from 1993 to 1995 and it is exactly the same today as it was then. Same owners personally assembling hot, fresh and delicious Mexican fare, same menu, same delicious horchata, same old sign.
I visit every time I come back to SF and this trip my high school age sons finally got to see what Dad is always talking about for themselves...more Los Hermanos devotees!
I swear to God I was almost terrified when I turned the corner onto chestnut that Los Hermanos wouldn't be there anymore...and my heart (and soul) exploded with delight when I saw that it was.
Almost every other restaurant in the Marina has changed (probably many times) in the past 30 years but Los Hermanos remains. All you need to know.
Fresh, authentic, delicious, NOT EXPENSIVE, I hope this place is here until I die. -

So this place is what I call a little hole in the wall place which doesn't mean it's not good because it was pretty good! It's a very small place but they have a few tables inside. They do accepts credit cards so that was a plus.
I ordered the nachos which was more then enough food for me. It had a good amount of chicken and guacamole. Two things I feel places will skimp on. What I didn't like about the nachos is the cheese sauce. It seemed like that really fake ballpark cheese. I have noticed places here don't have the white cheese dip that I am used to getting at Mexican style restaurants so maybe it's just me. -

A little taste of the Mission, on Chestnut!
Right on the tail end of the bustling strip of Chestnut, you'll find this family-owned taqueria. Parking is tough right outside, but try a block or two north and you should find some free two-hour parking. There are also two Muni lines that come here.
It's pretty hole-in-the-wall! Very simple and little to no decor, this simply delicious spot is a Marina staple. There is very little seating inside, three two-seaters and one table for four, so I would not come here to dine in with a group. It's definitely more of a to-go taqueria.
At first glance, the menu looks standard, and some might even a little boring. But this taqueria has been here since I was six years old (I'm 23 now) and the menu hasn't changed *one bit*. Menu items that stand the test of time in a neighborhood with a high turnover rate are never to be doubted. The chefs are the same boys that wrapped my burrito after soccer practice. They are very generous with their portions, and their ingredients are FRESH. I don't eat carnitas so I can't speak to that, but their chicken is JUICY and beef TENDER. This is my neighborhood burrito spot and I hope they never close.
